SLUT -- Streetcar's unfortunate acronym seems here to stay
By KERY MURAKAMI
P-I REPORTER
There's a story going around South Lake Union, but a spokeswoman for Vulcan,
Paul Allen's development company, says it's just an urban legend.
Today in the news a pedophile from Washington state who moved to L.A. was complaing because the community and the city have come together and have banned him from going anywhere near chilldren permanently. In his words it's "Orwellian" and "nightmarish.". He also said he thought L.A. would be a nice place for him because of all the kittie attractions. He also said earlier in the week he was moving back to Washington.
Print and cut out this card, which has the 10 most likely responses you'll get from Seattleites if you bring up any negatives about their city. Wait for the discussion to end, hand them this card, and tell them to have a nice day. Better yet, if you're a betting person, bet them that you already know their responses and then hand this to them to collect your prize.
Whatever appealing &/or positive info you've heard about Seattle, forget it!
The reasons why I moved to Seattle are as unclear to me now as an
alzhiemer's patient trying to focus or remember anything.
However, here are some random fading memories, make of them what you will:
Saying Seattle sucks means different things to different people. If you talk to someone who moved here, they'll likely have a litany of complaints, not the least of which being that the locals are passive aggressive, socially retarded weirdos.
If you ask a local, they'll tell you that Seattle sucks because of all of the "transplants" (that term is overused in this area) who came in and changed the place.
So who's right?
Thought I'd try to post something for the benefit of those who're thinking about moving to Seattle, are visiting this site, and may not believe all of the
basic Seattle sucks posts.
Here are some things to consider if you fall into that category -- or maybe you're already here and have buyers' remorse over the move.
I see two basic groups of transplants:
Involuntary transplants: Corporate moves, military, born here, etc
Voluntary transplants: self explanatory: for whatever reason, you actively sought to move out here.
Today was another typical ride home on the bus. At 3rd and Pike we picked up all of my friends at the needle clinic who need to ride 3 blocks to the next stop. A fight ensued on the bus between "Crack Chick"" and "Meth Boy". The bus driver did not stop and demand for them to get off the bus but instead said "this is a nice bus...everyone be nice".
Any description of this Individual is open to discussion.
He is always in this site trying to "Prove" Seattle does not Suck.
Is he right?
Happy hunting!!!
These are the things that I have gathered to find out How Seattle Sucks. You be the Judge:
1. Try ordering an Americano in any Starbucks when you are in a hurry. ( it will Literally take all day).
2. Try driving Speed limit and you will find yourself STUCK 10 miles less than the limit due to the SLOW driving of the rest. (Most of them brake incessantly every 20 seconds for NO REASON).
There was a time when Seattle was actually a decent town but unfortunately all of that went out the door. Fortunately, there is one Northwest town that has gotten it right so far. Portland, Oregon. I just went for a visit a few days ago and here's what I have to say about Portland.
